Is there any shorter method rather then going through the long process of solving for the value of X ?

Please suggest

A prefer drawing a decision tree (not strictly accurate mathematically but helpful from a process perspective) i.e. 15% are defective and then 85% are not

Out of those 85%, 20% are imported and 80% are exported. This 80% is represented by 8840.

So, 8840/(5/4). This number (whatever it is, do not need to calculate it here) represents 85% of total production so (8840/(5/4))/(100/85)

This actually cancels out neatly to 8840/(25/17) and the 17 divides well into 8840 giving 520.

520 x 25 = 13,000 (since 520/4 = 130)

Total time: 52 secs. Think that's alright for someone not that good at maths.
