Stimulus : -
Researchers observed that those who just donated blood contributed less money than those who just visited a doctor → Because of this, researchers concluded that people have limited tokens for generosity, and because people who just donated blood have done something good, they feel less obligated to contribute.

Question : -
We need to find one strengthener and one weakener.

Let's look at options : -

Blood donors are generally allowed to donate whole blood only once every two months.
This is totally irrelevant to our conclusion.

People report that they are more likely to make charitable donations when the request is made in person than when it is made over the phone.
Ok, I get it. But how is this adding anything to the argument? Nowhere in the stimulus do we have anything related to the mode of communication for donation.

People who placed money in a store’s charity collection container before shopping bought fewer groceries, on average, than those who did so after shopping.
This shows something about charity tendency and their own shopping patterns, but nowhere does this option talk about limited generosity. Irrelevant.

People report that making charitable donations causes them to feel better about themselves.
Good for them. But I see no way this is connected to our argument.

People tend to give less to charity during weeks in which they help neighbors by providing a needed good or service.
Great! So this shows and talks about the same pattern that the researchers were discussing, and it gives us additional evidence that doing good for others makes people feel less obligated. This is our strengthener.

A different study found that few blood donors consider donating blood to be comparable to “charitable giving.”
Hmm, tricky choice! This option could easily be another strengthener if we replaced “few” with “some/most.” However, “few” in GMAT is considered negative and means very close to zero. If blood donors do not consider donating blood as charitable giving, then the assumption that they feel they’ve already “done something good” (and thus give less money) becomes doubtful. This weakens the argument.
