Answer is - B. 21 hours and 20 minutes


W = Rate * Time
8 = 1 * 8

new systems

W = Rate * Time
6 = X * (16/3)

Once you find x - just use the new rate and divide by the total number of of products (i.e 24) to get the answer.

Old setting:

Rate = Work/Time = 8/8 = 1 machines per hour

New setting:

The new length of each production cycle is (2/3)8 = 16/3 hours.

Since “25% fewer” corresponds to a factor of 0.75, the new production of each production cycle is (0.75)8 = 6 machines.

Rate = Work/Time = 6/(16/3) = 9/8 machines per hour

To produce 24 machines, the factory needs:

Time = Work/Rate = 24/(9/8) = 64/3 hours =

21 hours and 20 minutes
