In an African savannah, a pride of lions hunted and ate a certain number of deer over a period of time. Each lion in the pride ate the same number of deer. This number was greater than the total number of lions. If there are at least 5 lions and they ate a total of 9,919 deer, then how many lions can be in the pride?

Let L be the number of lions.
Let D be the number of deers eaten per lion.
Given, D>L......(1)
Total number of deer eaten=DL=9919
Multiplying (1) by L on both sides
DL>L^2
L is atleast 5.
9919= 13*7*109
9919= 91*91+ 91*18
=91^2+ 91*18
So the number of lions in pride can be 91.

The key is that each lion in the pride ate the same number of deer.
Total deer consumed: 9919
We need to find a factor of 9919.
We have four possible answers: 76, 87, 91, and 105.
76 cannot be a factor of 9919 because 76n is even.
105 cannot be a factor of 9919 because 105n ends with either 5 or 0.
Just need to try out 87 and 91.
I picked 91 first, and it is indeed a factor of 9919. (9919 / 91 = 109)
So I got a bit lucky and picked (C).
(If 91 is not a factor, try 87. If 87 is the factor, choose 87; otherwise, choose E).
