What's wrong in c and d ?

Hello,

Both C and D change the meaning of the sentence. They mean that Aeschylus added someone else as the second actor. The original sentence means that Aeschylus played the role of the second actor and was credited for his act.

In the above question I was able to narrow down to C, D, E basis idiom usage of credit. But I am still not able to understand why C & D are incorrect. I eliminated both because Being is incorrectly used majority of the time in GMAT, but could you please explain how is the usage wrong in this context

(E) with having added

Meaning- Aristotle in his discussion of the history of Athenian tragedy gave Aeschylus the credit for adding a second actor.And this second actor varied the exchanges between the protagonist and the chorus.

Correct Idiom - Credited X with Y ( credit someone with doing the thing)

E is the right answer.

The GMAT prefers statements that convey the meaning directly and concisely. Option E does that perfectly. C and D are incorrect because the use of 'being' and 'the one' is redundant in the context of this sentence since the subject of the crediting has already been mentioned before.

Credit ..with is correct idiom

C and D makes sentence wordy , though the intent is clear but if we have shorter sentence with same intent then it is preferable

So E is correct
