OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

The problem with the sentence as it is written is that we don't know whether "them" refers to the psychologists or the patients—a problem that (A), (D), and (E) all have.
Choice (B) avoids that problem, which makes it one possibility.
Though (C) also avoids using an unclear pronoun, the timeline indicated by "having been invited" doesn't make sense with the earlier, present-tense "include."

The correct answer is Choice (B).

Learnings & Insights

  • A pronoun must have only one antecedent , it should refer back to the noun without any ambiguity and must agree in number

The pronoun ‘them’ does not seem to have any clear antecedent. With this in mind, we can eliminate options A, D, and E.

This leaves us with B and C

Option C seems to cause more confusion without the pronoun ‘them’ to be honest. It seems to modify the clause incorrectly and is not logical. Thus we can eliminate this.

B is the best option here.

Hope this helps!
