Between X and Y is the correct idiom - Eliminate A and E

B.To determine whether white cabbage butterflies discriminate between

C.For determining if white cabbage butterflies discriminate or not between - Incorrect - Awkward.

D.Because of wanting to determine whether white cabbage butterflies discriminate between - Incorrect - Wordy. 'Because of wanting' is not needed

There are several reasons for choosing option (B)

1. " To determine " = Correct as per standard english usage.
2. Whether = Includes a choice or alternative.
3. Those = Correctly refers to flowers
4. Correct Idiomatic usage = Between x and Y

Hence IMHO completely with the OA (B)

B.To determine whether white cabbage butterflies discriminate between - Correct
C.For determining if white cabbage butterflies discriminate or not between - For determining is awkard , discriminate or not is redundant
D.Because of wanting to determine whether white cabbage butterflies discriminate between - Because of wanting is redundant
E.Since they wanted to determine if white cabbage butterflies discriminate among - Among is used for more than 2 items . Since we have 2 items here , we need to use between

Correct idiom :- Discriminate between X and Y

B , C , D are left.

C is awkward because it uses " For determining "..

D is awkward because it uses "Because of wanting.."

B is the correct answer.
