Ans: B

A. expenditure; and 24 percent in the 2000's - and after semicolon is incorrect. Out.
B. expenditure; in the 2000's the figure was 24 percent - parallelism. In.
C. expenditure, and in the 2000's 24 percent - abrupt ending, 24 percent of ? does not help us connect with food. Out.
D. expenditure, 24 percent in the 2000's was the figure - Parallelism is not maintained. Change in voice. Out.
E. expenditure that rose to 24 percent in the 2000's - incorrect reference of that. Food composition rose from 14 to 24, not the expenditure. Changes meaning. Out.
