in triangle ABC -- AB =5 , BC =4 AC =7
BX is angle bisector of angle ABC
\(\frac{AB}{BC}\) = \(\frac{AX}{CX}\) (angle bisector theorem)
\(\frac{5}{4}\) = \(\frac{a}{(7-a)}\)
35 - 5a = 4a
35 = 9a
AX = a = \(\frac{35}{9}\)
A is the answer
