Perimeter of a traingle = sum of all three sides
So perimeter of VZY = VZ + ZY + VY = 17. This gives VY = 17-5-5 = 7

Now, VY is the side of given square. So area of square = side*side = 7*7 = 49

Hence B answer

Since the perimeter of triangle VZY is 17, VY = side of square = 7. Thus, the area of the square is 7 x 7 = 49.
