Asked: In the figure above, if x = 40, then y - z = ?
y = 180 -x
z = 90 - x
y - z = (180-x) -(90-x) = 90

if you see y is the exterior angle.

The exterior angle of a triangle is the sum of the opposite interior angles
so y=90+z
therefore, y-z=90

You don't need the value of x = 40 for anything.

Hi one stupid question my apologies, isnt all interior angles of a quadrilateral = 360?

I took 360 - (180 + 40 ) = 150 and therefore opposite angle Y to be 150 too

Therefore 150 - Z(which is 50) = 100

Can i check where did I go wrong?
