(1) x/(y + 2) is an integer.
(2) x < 4

Statement 1: $$\frac{x}{(y+2)}=integer$$

$$=>y+2≤x =>y≤x-2$$. But we don't know the values of any variable. Insufficient

Statement 2: As $$x$$ is a positive integer, so possible values of $$x=1$$, $$2$$ & $$3$$. But nothing mentioned about $$y$$. Insufficient

Combining 1 & 2. as $$y$$ is positive integer $$x$$ has to be $$3$$ which means $$y=1$$. Sufficient

1. says x/(y+2) is an integer. that means x= (y+2)p + q ( p& q constant ).

Now, we don't know any condition for the equation to be true or
we dont the value of x or y. So INSUFFICIENT.
2. statement -2 gives a condition x<4 that means x can be 1, 2 or 3. INSUFFICIENT.

Combining 1 & 2 , we get

x = 1,2,3 only 3 satisfies .

(1) $$\frac{x}{(y + 2)}$$ is an integer. This only tells us that x is bigger than 2; insufficient.

(2) $$x < 4$$. This says that x = {1,2,3}, but says nothing about y..; insufficient.

(1) & (2).We know that 2 < x < 4, so x = 3 and y = 1 for statement (1) to be true; sufficient.

(C) is the answer.
