Let the red quota be 100 and the blue quota be 120. Half the daily quota for both is 110.
This means that every hour red makes 10 pills and blue makes 12.

Blue starts at 8:00 and works for 2.75 hours until 10:45.
2.75*12 = 33

Pills left to be produced: 110-33 = 77

Working together blue and red make 22 pills an hour.

77/22 = 3 11/22 or 3.5 hours

10:45 + 3.5 hours = 14:15

Re: In the "Mashburn" pharmaceutical company there are two machines - a ma [#permalink]
let red balls be 10x, then blue balls=12x
the blue machine started at 8 and worked for 2.75hour producing 1.2x*11/4hrs = 3.3x balls
so now we have to produce 1/2(total balls produced)=1/2*22x=11x

we have already prodcued 3.3x till 10:45, now we need to produce 11x-3.3x=7.7x
after 10.45,both machines worked simultaneously to produce 1x+1.2x=2.2x per hour
so 7.7/2.2=3.5hours

hence 10:45+3.5=2:15
