It's as if statement 2 needs to be run through a sentence correction filter. I had no idea which digits "the digits" was referring to. Thanks for the clarification.

Yea I don't like that wording either, I guess this is why we practice!

Statement 1 says Only one digit in the telephone number is greater than X.

The digits we are provided in the telephone number are 9, 3, 6, 2, 1, 5
In ascending order 1 2 3 5 6 9

Now we are told only one of the digits is greater than X so X is less than 9 but greater than or equal to 6. Hope that explains it.
