In the telephone number 936-215X, what digit does X represent?
(1) Only one digit in the telephone number is greater than X.
(2) X is the greatest of the digits not among the telephone number’s first six digits.
The answer key says that the answer is (B) but I haven't a clue how that could be right.
Any takers?

(1) This means X could be any of the following: 6,7,8
Since only one digit can be greater than X and we have a 9, X is the set of all values smaller than 9 but greater than or equal to the next highst value (6) - Insufficient
(2) X is the greatest of the digits not among the telephone number’s first six digits.
Which means X is the greatest number not included in the first 6 digits. The first 6 digits include a 9. Thus, the greatest number not included in the first 6 digits is 8. This is sufficient.
Answer is B
