In the triangle ABC above, what is the length of side AB?

Statement 1: Line segment BD has length 8
Triangle ABD is an isosceles triangle with AB = BD (Side opposite equal angles)
Therefore AB = 8
Statement 1 is sufficient. Answer options could be A or D
Statement 2: Line segment CD has length 8
In Triangle BDC, Angle BDC = 180 - 2x (Sum of angles on a straight line = 180)
Therefore 180 - 2x + x + Angle B = 180 (Sum of angles of a triangle = 180)
Angle B = x
Triangle BDC is an isosceles triangle with BD = CD = 8 (Side opposite equal angles)
Since AB = BD, AB = 8
Statement 2 is sufficient.
