Hi,

As the question have both line L and C but statement 1 is on only C and statement 2 is only on L hence answer can not come by either of the statements alone so A,B and D are ruled out.

Now suppose that
Case1:slope of the line is 1 degree in that case it will intersect x axis but very very far
Case2: if degree is 89 it will intersect nearby.

Now suppose that circle is very very big such that only its tip passes through the two points mentioned in statement 1. So in case 1 L will not intersect with C and in case 2 it will, hence the information is not sufficient to come to a conclusion.
So answer is E.

Let me try helping you out.

Statement 1 and 2 alone are clearly insufficient as we donot have the information about both circle and line individually.

Combining the two statements, I won't say a lot here. Just see the two diagrams below, you will understand why the answer is E. :-D

Diagram on the left says YES to the question and Diagram on the right says NO to the question. Hence, two answers even after combining, Answer is E.
P.S. : Sorry for a bad drawing. I made it very quickly.

abhimahna Thanks for replying

Although line in fig 2 is not intersecting x axis as stated in (2)..but i got your point of reasoning :)
