Asked: n the XY-plane, the vertices of a triangle have coordinates (0, 0), (5, 5) and (10, 0). What is the perimeter of the triangle?
Distance from (0,0) to (5,5) = \(5\sqrt{2}\)
Distance from (0,0) to (10,0) = 10
Distance from (5,5) to (10,0) = \(5\sqrt{2}\)
Perimeter of the triangle = \(5\sqrt{2}\) + 10 + \(5\sqrt{2}\) = \(10 + 10\sqrt{2}\)
IMO E
Distance from (0,0) to (5,5) = \(5\sqrt{2}\)
Distance from (0,0) to (10,0) = 10
Distance from (5,5) to (10,0) = \(5\sqrt{2}\)
Perimeter of the triangle = \(5\sqrt{2}\) + 10 + \(5\sqrt{2}\) = \(10 + 10\sqrt{2}\)
