In this year's negotiations, unionized workers will fight to improve job security in many industries, but they will large wage increases in some, as in the prospering telecommunications industry.
a) as in the prospering telecommunications industry.
b) such industries like telecommunications, which is prospering.
c) as in that of the prospering telecommunications industry.
d) as is the prospering telecommunications industry.
e) as in an industry like telecommunications, which is prospering.
As an aside, I thought "as" introduces a subordinate clause. A, B, D, and E are not subordinate clauses.
Thanks.
Mike

a) as in the prospering telecommunications industry.
its meaning only telecom industry is prospering b) such industries like telecommunications, which is prospering.
wrong subject/verb agreement. which is prospering is refering to industries, so it should be are c) as in that of the prospering telecommunications industry.
that is not required. d) as is the prospering telecommunications industry.
is should be "as in" e) as in an industry like telecommunications, which is prospering.
I believe A should be the answer ... we are citing an example here ... well the explanation seems right but in E I believe like is redundant ... "as " itself conveys the meaning ..
so A for me ..

Actually, it is correct as written. "workers....they...."
The OA is A
The explanation states that "in some" needs to be followed by "as in" in order for the clauses to fit together. E (the answer I chose originally) is wordy.
