In triangle ABC (figure shown) drawn on a coordinate plane, A, B and C are the vertices of the triangle and a∘∘and b∘∘ denote the angles shown. Is the length of AB greater than that of AC?

(1) a – b = 30

(2) b = 70

Please refer the figure.

In Triangle AOC, we have
A-OXC+A-XOC+A-OCX = 180
(180-a) + 90 + A-OCX = 180
A-OCX = a-90
c = a-90
Now, we need to find if AB>AC or A-BCA>A-ABC or c>b or a-90>b
OR
a-b>90?

Statements:

(1) a - b = 30
Is a-b>90? NO.

Sufficient.

(2) b = 70
We know nothing about a.
Insufficient.

Hence, the answer is Option (B).
