In triangle ABC, the measure of angle B is 80 as shown in the figure above. What is the measure of angle A?
(1) Side AB and BC are the same length
(2) The length of side AC is 10 inches.

Step 1: Analyse Question Stem
- • \(∠ABC = 80\)
• \(∠ABC + ∠BAC + ∠BCA = 180\)
• \(∠BAC + ∠BCA = 100\)
Step 2: Analyse Statements Independently (And eliminate options) – AD/BCE
Statement 1: Side \(AB\) and \(BC\) are the same lengths.
- • It means \(ABC\) is an isosceles triangle
- o \(∠BAC = ∠BCA\)
• \(2*∠BAC=100\)
• We can find the value of angle \(A\).
Statement 2: The length of side \(AC\) is \(10\) CM
- • We cannot infer anything about the angle A with this information.
