Which one is correct?

No student ought to be put into a situation...in which / where he has to choose between his loyalty to his friends and his duty to the class.

When do we use 'in which' vs. 'where'?

GMAT only use "where" for a place/location
"in which" is correct.

In GMAT, we use "where" to refer to an actual physical place. However, when we refer to something abstract such as "dream" or "marketplace" we use "in which".
