Hey everyone,
Might seem like a weird/unique question. I understand that some ethnic groups like ORMs have a harder time competing with other applicants.
I have a unique background. One of my parents are of Nordic descent and my other parent is biracial - Indian and African. Not getting into details of exact racial makeup for privacy reasons. I was born and am a primary citizen of the Nordic country.
My question is whether or not including this information on my application would help my chances. On most applications I would select: White, African/Black, and Asian (Indian). Thanks for any help!
Hi
unclejesus,
Your background does have an impact on your applications. You can select all the boxes that meet your criteria.
However, Adcoms want to ensure they enroll a mixed batch of cohorts, hence, the tough competition. We recommend you highlight your background in your supplemental essays and your applications if it brings out a story that has/is impacting your life. It will help you draw an upper hand over the pool of applicants.
