Cornell has a "new student forum" where all the newly admitted students login and post a profile of themselves. While there are no stats or anything like that... it is interesting to read.

(and not to sound snobbish or anything, but I was disappoint to find that most of the profiles were not really impressive at all... :( )

Anyway, I don't see a problem with asking for the profile so students admitted so far. I know they do keep track of that at most schools. However, I think it would be extremely similar to the previous year, usually slightly better. (especially gmat score-wise)

Man, the one at Berkeley is making me crap my pants. I feel that I don't stack up nearly as well.

Can you guys share what was un-impressive about Cornell or impressive about Berkeley's student profiles? This is a serious questions as I plan to apply to those schools this fall. Thanks!

Well, this is purely subjective, and I'm just going by what I remembered from reading the 100+ posts. (Also, these were personal introductions so they are definitely bias)

The first thing that struck me about the Cornell admits was that the majority attended univerities that I did not recognize. Quite a few from UBuffalo and surrounding area. (Obviously this could be my own ignorance, but I didn't see any big names)

One good thing was that most people had solid work experience and very divserse experiences. But again, nothing stood out as overly impressive, I only remember 1 guy from JPMorgan as a recruiter.

Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic... afterall why would a school full of superstars want to admit me? It would also make sense that superstars wouldn't really need to go back to school anyway. But I guess I had my hopes up for a top 15...

I guess in the end, what really matters is that I do well and get recruited. It seems that Cornell has a record with top firms, so I will concentrate on that.

I also remember the Cornell JP Morgan recruiter admit, who, if memory serves me right, was in Asia. He had a memorable profile. There was one other guy who started a food delivery business I think and sold it last year. That was memorable as well. GSB has some impressive people - but it also has a large number of run of the mill accenture consultants, or 2 years IB or all that usual jazz.
