Hello,
I've been preparing for the GMAT for the past two+ months and have my exams scheduled for Nov 2nd. I took three GMAT Prep practice exams whose results I've attached.
First PT : Oct 5th :
680, Q49, V33 (Most of the preparation was on Quant only. CR has been my strong hold, so, had just brushed on that and had some basic prep for SC. No RC Prep. One known RC, but then, I knew it only well enough to recognize the main content of the RC. Did not help much with the questions. Had to perform due diligence with the questions anyways)
Drill down detail:
Problem Solving : 49, DS : 49
Arithmetic : 50, Algebra/Geometry : 47
V33 => CR 38, RC 28, SC 35
Second PT: Oct 13 2016 :
750, Q48, V44 Had taken off from work until Oct 13. Had done extensive preparation for SC (
e-GMAT SC lessons) and RC (practice from
OG and Kaplan 800). Just the night before the mock test, I solved 5 consecutive passages from
OG and got all of them right. Pumped up my morale on RC. Dedicated one full day for CR prep, mostly practicing question banks from gmatclub and
e-gmat scholaranium. Nothing else was done for CR. No additional prep for Quant after Oct 5. No known questions in the test to inflate my test scores.
PS 48, DS: 49
Arithmetic : 49, Algebra/Geo : 47
V44 => RC 51 (Got every single RC question thrown at me right), CR 44 (one Bold Face Question was wrong, all else right), SC 44 (4 sentence correction questions wrong. One was a silly mistake)
I was completely thrilled after this test and was roaming around like crazy. I knew my ways to bring back Quant to Q49. So, dreams of great scores started. Just to make sure this is not an outlier to the entire data set, wanted to take one more PT to confirm the same. Purchased Exam Pack 1 and 2 of GMAT Prep. Did not prepare much between Oct 13 to Oct 16.
Third PT : Oct 16, 2016
650! Q47, V32. Been my worst in terms of verbal. My initial test before any bit of practice had given me a V33!
V32 => CR30, RC29, SC 35.
This almost got me shattered. I have my exams in less than two weeks and I am aiming for a score greater than 720. Could someone please help me understand where am I faltering? Should I consider rescheduling my GMAT? What should be my next steps?
One thing I found is that on my V32 exam, I had 2 science, one social science and one business passage. The sciences passages were a disaster. My V44 test, on the other hand, had only one sciences passage, which too, I got all right.
My plan to get back to Q49 is to take up GMAT prep practice tests, one each day and perform error analysis. Looking at solutions of questions that I faltered has been my single big learning experience after completing all chapters from
e-gmat course and the math handbook.
I tried my best to simulate test conditions as much as possible. Exact 8 mins breaks, tests would start exactly at 9 AM (my test slot) and all sections including AWA and IR answered. The IR on test 3 was a disaster again. With an IR 3. On the first two tests, it was IR7.
Could someone please help me here? Thanks a lot in advance!
