Incorrect: Whent I was younger, I was most frightened of dogs

Correct: When I was younger, I was more frightened of dogs

I feel that correct answer is most frightened of dogs, because most is superlative degree and it suits perfect here. Can you please clear my confusion

Take a look at the meaning here. "When I was younger" - implies you are comparing current conditions with conditions when you were younger. Since you're simply comparing two time periods - "more frightened" is more appropriate.

On the other hand, if you said that among ages 3, 5, 15, and 19 --- you were "most frightened" of dogs at the age of 5..then that makes more sense.

Make sense?

I think you are right, Milap. Sentence # 2 is incorrect because when using comparative degree, you should have something to compare it with e.g. "I was more frightened of dogs than of cats".

Thanks.

It is not a superlartive, so you would only be more, not most, unless you were comparing it to a third time.
