Dude, it's very simple.
Who do you think knows more about how recent events can affect an energy company's business?
A smart but entirely academic guy who sits on a desk in Manhattan, or a guy who's been in the thick of things at an energy company for 9 years, and has just recently learned all the financial theory?
If you've learned anything in 9 years of project management there, you're likely to have immediate reactions to news, speculation, developments in your field. If you can articulate those reactions intelligently, you'll be way ahead of the traditional Wall Street analyst.
