1) insuff. it tells nothing about Y
2) insuff. one can find values where y=x and x>y
together insuff. also because it is impossible to determine wxether 4x>3y
my tip for this question is to plug in numbers

IMO, the best way to solve this question is to plug in numbers.
The stmt2 says x/y < 1 try to plug +ve and -ve both.
