If a=2 and b=-3
Then a/b=2/(-3) which is smaller than 1.
Hence you can't assume these values.

It's given that a/b>1
then a and b must have same sign or else a/b will become negative
and |a| > |b| must be true else a/b will become less than 1.

Next time be careful while putting the values, those values must satisfy the statement.

If f(x)=100–x^2 , is f(a)>f(b)?

(1) a^2>b^2
(2) a/b>1

Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
Both statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.


IMO, OA should be A and not D because:

Stat 1:
\(a^2>b^2\)
=> \(a^2-b^2>0\)
=> \(f(a)\) < \(f(b)\)
Sufficient

Stat 2:
\(\frac{a}{b}>1\)
=> \(a>b\)

From here we can't say that \(a^2\)>\(b^2\) as if \(a\) is positive and \(b\) is negative, then \(b^2\)>\(a^2\)
If \(a=3\) and \(b=2\), then \(a^2\)>\(b^2\)
BUT if \(a=2\) and \(b=-3\), then \(a^2\)<\(b^2\)
Hence not sufficient.
