I do not have direct knowledge about the program but I have done some research before deciding to apply for the full-time program at INSEAD. The following is strictly my opinion based on my own research so take it with a grain of salt.

I was considering applying to INSEAD's GEMBA in Abu Dhabi or LBS's EMBA in Dubai but finally decided against it for the following reasons:

- The most important reason is that the perceived value of an EMBA is not at all the same as a regular full-time MBA even if the actual diploma does not specify which one it is. That is true regardless of the school.
- Similarily, even rankings are different for MBA vs EMBAs of the same school. ie.: if you have an LBS EMBA from Dubai, you cannot pretend that your degree is ranked #1 in the world. They are 2 different programs and have 2 different rankings.
- It would be much more difficult (athough very feasible) for you to switch companies or industries with an EMBA as recruiting opportunities post-EMBA are not as rich and diversified. However if your goal is to remain in the same company and advance, than it would probably be a better, less costly option than the full-time MBA.
- INSEAD's GEMBA in Abu Dhabi is very recent and still not well-known by employers although INSEAD's name will clearly get you some attention.

The end decision will depend on your goals. If you are sure that you want to remain with your current company and advance, than it does seem like the GEMBA would be a much better option for you.

Just my 2 cents.

Many thanks for your replies.

@Hdim

I do not want to change industry since I am targeting more strategic roles in Oil&Gas Industry. Maybe I should consider LBS's Dubai campus considering that its much more established then INSEAD's Abu Dhabi campus.

By the way, I have checked and saw that LBS's EMBA is ranked 1st in the world :) Would it be the same when I get this degree from Dubai instead of London?

Thanks
