Hi everyone! Just got done with the application process and have received admits from INSEAD and CBS. Very torn on schools so would love any thoughts!
I'm an international student (26, Indian Male) with an undergrad degree from the US, and 5 years of work ex across the US, India and the Middle East, across consulting, tech program management public sector / non profit work. In terms of goals - looking into MBB consulting short term, before moving into digital health startups / VC (but keeping an open mind). Do not intend to settle down in the US, but happy to work there for about 5-6 years before moving to Europe and eventually Asia. Have the following pros / cons in mind for either school (unfortunately won't get a chance to visit either campus anytime soon):
CBS:
Pros
- 2 year program - easier pace + opportunity to deepen networks over two years
- Stronger healthcare specific resources
- Stronger household brand name
- Slightly younger age group, more in line with where I currently am work ex wise
- Chance to live in NYC
Cons:
- Cost (tuition + NYC living expenses)
- General US focus - not nearly as international / diverse as INSEAD
- More limited support to move outside the US (in terms of alum network) relative to INSEAD
INSEAD:
Pros:
- Much cheaper, incl. Opp Cost of working an additional year
- Singificantly more international student body and general approach to the MBA
- Stronger MBB recruiting numbers
- Seems to be the more 'fun' school
- Anecdotally, more tight knit alum network (but would love to hear advocates for both!)
- Seems to have a more diverse class in terms of professional background, without as much of a wall street / finance focus
Cons:
- More restrictive in terms of geography (may effectively lock out the US for a few years as an Indian)
- Lower salaries in Europe
- Potentially slightly weaker household brand name (but concede that this shouldn't be a huge factor)
Would love to hear thoughts, thanks so much!
