I'll report the nationalities that the ppl on the waiting list still seem to be interested in:

518 total
Canadians: 42
American: 40
Indian: 57
French: 47
Romanian: 10
Russian: 14
Serbian: 2

Something to keep in mind about the Canadian bucket is that most are dual or triple nationality as reported in MBA Connect. Only about a 1/3 have self-reported as Canadian only, and even most of those that consider themselves only Canadian invariably have two or three cultures in their heritage (Chinese, Indian, Jewish, Pakistani, French-Canadian, etc).

thanks Hank Scorpio!

So the no. of students as of now are 517 but this is way above the class size (approx. 495). What do you think is the reason behind it?

1. Does INSEAD send more invites assuming some will default in payment?
2. As you mentioned above, is this because of overlap of nationalities (some students are double/triple counted)?
3. Increase in intake?

I am on waitlist (R2) and hence some inputs from admits/current students will help me gain clarity on my chances! Thanks in advance for all your responses...:)!

I am also on the waitlist (R2) for Jan 2011,
and it would be great to have any kind of evidence as to when I will hear the final decision..
anyone, any idea if there is any chance that adcom will give out admissions to international candidates?

It's not way above, actually. The numbers from the past classes that show up in MBAConnect are:
11J: 511
10D: 504

So it's well within a rounding error right now. What I do find interesting is that the number of people starting in Singapore is 224, which seems a bit high, while Fonty starts are 295, which is around target (past targets have been 200 and 300). So it appears there are trending towards increasing intake for Singapore campus, with (my analysis being) the hopes of increasing influence in Asia. What's good for the adcom but bad for the waitlisters is that the Singapore visa process is relatively easy so they can fill in gaps relatively quickly that cancellations leave behind.

You're welcome and good luck - make sure you have a backup plan and hope that you'll have some good news at the beginning of Dec (the first big payment is due at the end of Nov) :)

Hi Sourabh,

That's definitely very encouraging. To add to things, the last thing he asked was - "What if you don't make it to INSEAD?". I understand that this is a standard question but the timing was just at the end of the session (after my questions to him) :) Anyway, will keep you posted. Good luck to you as well!

Cheers!

Hi Kruizer,

Are you at INSEAD now? Just curious - what was your answer to the question? (What if you don't make it to INSEAD?) Thanks :)
