Unlike many business schools, where interviews are conducted by admissions staff, INSEAD assigns this task to its alumni. For those aspiring to join INSEAD, performing well in the INSEAD interview questions is essential. The interviewers not only evaluate your professional achievements but also assess if you would be a good fit for their program.

INSEAD Interview Format
It is important to know the basics of the INSEAD interviews before you appear in one.

1. Who Conducts the INSEAD Interview
INSEAD Alumni conducts these interviews. This means the interviewers have already gone through the entire MBA experience before you and can assess not only your fit for the school but also your potential to contribute to the community. As our expert INSEAD consultant Praveg advises, “Don’t look at it as a job interview; look at it as if you are having a conversation”.

2. How Many Interviews
INSEAD’s interview process is one of the most distinctive among top MBA programs, and it starts before you meet your alumni interviewers.

Step 1: The Kira Talent Video Interview (with New Written Component)
After submitting your INSEAD application, you’ll be asked to complete the Kira Talent video interview. This stage is mandatory and must be submitted within 48 hours of the application deadline.

Here’s what the process includes:

3 Video Response Questions
You’ll be presented with three randomized questions. For each:
  • 45 seconds to prepare
  • 60 seconds to respond
  • These questions are designed to assess your clarity, communication, thought structure, and authenticity under pressure.
1 Written Response Question (NEW)
INSEAD has added a written response element to this stage. You’ll be given a short prompt and a time limit to type out your response. This evaluates your ability to communicate effectively in writing, think on your feet, and showcase professional judgment in real time.

🎓 Why this matters: The Kira interview helps the Admissions Committee evaluate who you are beyond your essays and resume — your personality, poise, and how you present ideas.

Tips for the Kira Video + Written Round:
  • Use the unlimited practice questions to get comfortable with the platform.
  • Dress professionally and set up a distraction-free, well-lit environment.
  • Be authentic — avoid sounding overly rehearsed.
  • For the written question, focus on structure, clarity, and tone.


Step 2: Alumni Interviews
If shortlisted, you will be invited to two alumni-conducted interviews in your country of residence or virtually. These are conversational, yet deep, and often include behavioral and motivation-based questions. Alumni interviewers evaluate your fit for INSEAD’s collaborative and global community.
