Hi guys,
I have been admitted to both SDA Bocconi and INSEAD and am now torn in the decision between the two options. I have received scholarships from both but overall INSEAD would be ~60K€ more expensive.
Some background:
I am Italian, 28 yo, and have ~5Years work experience in the commercial planning&control department of a big multinational company.
I speak Italian, English and some Spanish.
Goals:
I am attracted to the strategy consulting world, so that would be my first option. Alternatively, I would like to go in a Leadership Rotation Program in a multinational tech firm (Amazon of course is the most popular). While I am more inclined towards consulting, I wouldn’t completely say that the corporate option is second by far due to some work/life balance concerns.
Geographically I would either work directly in Italy or go to UK/Netherlands for some years before coming back in Italy for long term.
INSEAD
PROS:
More prestigious;
Bigger Alumni cohort;
More international and probably more diversity of backgrounds;
More career opportunities [?]
CONS:
Requires a loan;
Practical trouble related to moving (while I already live in Milan)
SDA BOCCONI
PROS:
Is significantly cheaper;
Does not require relocation;
I would continue living with my girlfriend (who will attend SDA MBA too);
Strong brand in Italy;
Huge improvement in rankings in recent years (it has great statistics from FT ranking, even an higher avg salary than INSEAD);
No loan required
CONS
Less prestigious globally;
Smaller Alumni group;
Less international reach ;
More narrow job choice in terms of geography/industries [?]
I thought I was pretty sure for INSEAD, with SDA Bocconi as a fallback option, but now I see many pros for SDA as well.
Does anyone have suggestions?
Many thanks!

Hi
Gilb17 hope you are doing well
If you aren't a fervent seeker of global opportunities and "the international reach", SDA Bocconi can be a good choice too in my opinion. Attending INSEAD is a once in a lifetime experience due to the extremely global nature of the program and the network that you create, but if you feel you do not have the risk appetite to forego 60kEuros and would not prefer to stay away from family and relations even during the course of the program, then it is a sign to pay heed to. Attending INSEAD does not necessarily guarantee a spot in consulting and since most reputed leadership programs (such as Amazon) recruit from all major B Schools in Europe, you would still be contesting for the same set of opportunities in Europe.
Let us know what you decide
Best wishes
