We need to maximize the number of reviews for each option.
RULE: If an employee reviews, then his/her supervisor also has to review.
For Dan: -if Dan has reviewed, its possible that the proposal was first handled by either Ellinor or Farsad. The question tricks you into believing that if Dan reviewed, then he was the first person to handle the proposal. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE BELOW HIM FIRST HANDLED THE PROPOSAL. If Dan reviews, then his senior, Chad (V.P) would have to review. If Chad reviews then Alvin (Prez) would also have to review. Thus Ellinor OR Farsad + Dan + Chad + Alvin = 4
For Alvin: Same logic for Alvin. If he reviews, its possible the proposal was initially handled by one of the analysts and then subsequently reviewed by each supervisor.

Thanks that helps . Now i get it, i.e maximize the no. of reviews for each entity, earlier i confused my self with the convoluted stem of the question.
Since there are 320 players and 5 players per team, there are 320/5 = 64 teams.
now, it takes 2 teams to play a match. So, in round 1 there will be 32 matches. At the end of these 32 matches, there will be 32 winning teams and 32 losing teams. So 32 losing teams get knocked out.
Round 2: 32 teams play 16 matches. 16 losing teams get knocked out. 16 teams remain. Round 3: 16 teams play 8 matches. 8 losing teams get knocked out. 8 teams remain. Round 4: 8 teams play 4 matches. 4 losing teams get knocked out. 4 teams remain. Round 5: 4 teams play 2 matches. 2 losing teams get knocked out. 2 teams remain.
After 5 rounds: 5 rounds completed and 2 teams remain.
