I am not sure if any of you would have insight into this - but my sister has just completed her GMAT exam and is planning on applying to most of the same school I am. Do you think this will have an impact on the ADCOM's decisions or do you think they are objective enough to look at us as individuals and not compare the two of us?

Are you afraid of your sister? :)

I'd actually venture this is a good thing. I know people who have applied in "pairs" - wife and husband, sister brother, etc. In each instance, I've found they've both been accepted.

Accepting makes both sense, otherwise there's a high chance that if you accept one, he/she will not be joining your school.

LoL am I afraid of my sister? No not really, we have 2 very different backgrounds. I just wonder if that would affect anything.

I am sure she will do well everywhere she applies - her undergrad is a little better then mine and we have the same GMAT score. However she works for Morgan and I am a manager at a commercial real estate firm and we are both going for different reasons.

I doubt they would bother comparing the two of you since you have different backgrounds, gender, etc. Depending on the familiy name, they might not even recognize that the two of you are related. A spouse/domestic partner relationship would be more likely to affect the decision than a sibling one.

Sounds good - thank you Hjort.

I guess the only school I think it could become a comparison at is the school our father went to since we will both be listing him in our applications. However I feel pretty confident it shouldnt be an issue - and we are applying in different rounds at almost all of our schools.
