Profile: 28 White US Male
GMAT: 640... Taken test multiple times. Did Veritas course twice
GPA: 2.9... Lots of extracurriculars, Last 2 years' GPA was strong. Finished on dean's list
Education: Engineering at nationally ranked US university
Work Experience: 6 years of engineering... fortune 100 companies, positive growth through all 6 years.
Aspirations: Working in business with manufacturing/technology companies. Want to develop business acumen, specifically finance/operations side.
Other: Essays seem strong, always been confident with interview skills. I have been invited to interview with top business schools in the US.

I've had a hard time trying to get into a top US program where I can justify leaving my career. Would consider an international program if I can justify it. Any advice would be appreciated. Manchester, Bocconi, St. Gallen... get creative? I would only want to apply to a couple of schools if I go this route

Recommend you take GRE to see if that comes out differently or might with a few months effort.Why international. Who are you selling this to? Need to make sure they know/care. Oxford is great for finance.

Doing an MBA outside your country is a great way to challenge yourself. Specifically, if you are considering the European MBAs, the kind of international exposure you will get will be unparalelled when compared to the US b-schools.

These would have been good justifications for me.

Thanks for the replies. That's exactly what I was thinking when I wrote "justify". I think the experience would be enough value. I guess my question is: Since I don't know much about international schools, what would be some good examples of schools where my profile could fit in? Farrell, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "who am I trying to sell this to".

Great! We are on the same page about the value of international exposure. I will speak from my own experience of being a partner on the LBS campus (after moving from USA). The international diversity London has to offer is mindblowing. I am quite sure its like this even in Europe.

I'd need to know more about what you wish to do post MBA to help you come up with some b-school names. Unfortunately, the post MBA goals you have mentioned are far too wide- manufacturing and technology are two very different industries. Short term goals should be specific.

Most European colleges do a profile evaluation- you can submit your resume on the website. If they like you, they will ask you to apply. Your leadership capability and achievements (work & extra curricular) would be the key criteria, so make sure your resume reflects these.
