Question

If a candidate wants to pursue in finance so how much amount of work experience will defenetly get him into INSEAD ?

I’m afraid the answer is not very clear cut. Sort of like how much charm does it require to definitely get married to Kim Kardashian?

It takes a lot more than work experience and a lot more than charm to succeed at those two things. Business school application is a very involved process but there is a simple answer to your question. While things are not guaranteed, people who have the best chances tend to be outstanding candidates across-the-board. That means they are the best performers at work, great test takers, and good presenters.

The application takes into consideration all of these aspects and while nobody’s perfect, the stronger are the parts of your application, the better. That means your test scores, your undergraduate performance, your work achievements, your extracurricular activities, your essays, resume, future plans and interview skills.

Indian, female 30
Bachelor in commerce 74% (tier3) , Mba 6.19cgpa (tier3)
Target gmat: 2targets @680 &720
Job ex: -2016-2017 (Deloitte, audit support)
 -Changed profile from audit to valuation
 -2018-2019 (Evalueserve, Investment banking
 support) (Analyst role)
 -2019-now (got hired for senior analyst) (Moody's 
 PE support) (Both valuation roles include 
 Financial modeling, industry analysis, investor
 Memo, trading comps)
 -Guide 2-3juniors in project deliverables
 -Did a financial modeling certification
Extra-curricular: - Degree in Indian classical music with a few concerts under my belt (concerts since the age of 5)
Have been investing and generating profits since the age of 20
Ngo involvement in financial literacy (1year) with a batch of 20-40students

I want to target venture capital post a second mba. How supportive are the markets in US and Europe for breaking into VC as an international student?
And if not, provided i do not want to pursue IB &PE, how to realign goals to get a an admit as well as get recruited post mba?

Also, would product management be a justified shift considering my background and bag an offer in the recruitment market?

Hi, I agree with  bb . There is no sure shot method of getting into a business school- INSEAD or any other for that matter (In that case everyone would land up at their first choice business schools).

Here are a few things that can help you specifically at INSEAD:
1. having  international experience  and demonstrating that you have gained some associated qualities as a result- open mindedness, adaptability, cultural sensitivity and an ability to thrive among people who are different from you.
2. having   leadership skills   and demonstrating these in your work experience and extra curricular activities.
3. having self awareness about your career and  clarity on career goals . Goals should be ambitious, yet realistic, and they should justify the need for an MBA, specifically from INSEAD
4. having a  good academic record  demonstrated through competive GPA and GMAT. INSEAD does place an eligibility criteria for different components of the GMAT score - so check these out and try to achieve a score closer to their suggested score.
