For the schools that offer interviews by invite only, does it make a difference whether I send in my application well before the round 2 deadline or right at the deadline? I take it that if they choose to interview me, the interview would come after the deadline has passed, correct? Also, for the schools in which interviews are optional, but strongly suggested, should I schedule the interview before the deadline or after I have submitted my application (and the deadline has passed)? Thanks for your advice.

For the interview-by-request schools, it makes sense to schedule the interview before the deadline. Michigan/Ross advises the following:
"We strongly encourage you to schedule an interview before the deadline for which you plan to submit your application."
"We strongly encourage you to schedule an interview before the deadline for which you plan to submit your application."
