I scheduled my off campus interview on 2nd Feb'14 at Chennai, India. The interviewer was Mr. Ramkey, a 2001 Ross Alumnus. Venue: Kohinoor Asiana hotel, OMR, Chennai. Dress code: Smart casual
I traveled from Bangalore to Chennai by a late night train and arrived Chennai Central on 2nd feb early morning. The interview was scheduled at 1215pm. So, I had booked a hotel near the venue and got fresh up and took rest for few hours. My hotel was just 5 min away from the venue. So, I just took a shared taxi and reached the venue by 11:30 PM. When I arrived, the interviewer was already sitting with some guy, so most probably he was taking another interview.
At around 1215pm, he met me at one the coffee shops of the hotel. He already had printout of my resume but the layout was not proper so, I gave him a printout of my resume. First, he asked me my ID and I gave him my passport. He asked more or less following questions (not in exact sequence).
1. Who is "my name" 2. Why MBA and Why in USA 3. Why Ross 4. Give example on "What is my leadership style" 5. How do I handle conflict. 6. Cultural differences which I experienced when I worked in "so-so" countries. He also asked me some other follow up questions as part of my answers to above question.
Then, he gave a brief introduction about himself and asked me to ask questions from him. I asked two questions and that's all. Finally, we shook hands and he offered me good luck . While walking back to reception, he talked to me about some random stuffs like about Mysore (my previous job location), real estate prospects in Mysore (as he is thinking about investing there) etc.
After the interview, I took a bus, went to Chennai central and took a train back to Bangalore.
Overall the experience was good and I personally feel that the interview went well. Now, let's see what happens on March14th
