Hi guys, I would appreciate if you give me suggestion on this...
I was dinged from Wharton EMBA, Do I need to mention this while interviewing in Chicago EMBA if the adcom ask me?
The most obvious question Adcom will ask me would be " You live in San Franscisco, Why you are pursuing Chicago when there are EMBAs available at Wharton West and at Berkeley Columbia?
For Berkeley I have a reasoning that this EMBA is not even rated by BW or FT. When I am making a investment of $130,000+, I would like to look at these things. I would like to get the degree from top 3 institutes. Berkeley EMBA has just started 3-4 years back, whereas Chicago EMBA is the oldest in the industry, plus its strength in Finance and Quant which excite me the most.
But what do I say for Wharton EMBA? I am not sure what impression would it leave on the admission committee when I say I was dinged at Wharton and now I am applying to Chicago?
What would be the most diplomatic & most honest answer I could give?

I think your reply should consist of a good reason why you want Chicago over any other program, not why you "don't want" another program. In other words don't say I don't want Berkeley because they are not a top 3 or whatever program, Instead say "my research convinced me that Chicago is the school for me because...."

not sure how EMBA admissions work; is it by rounds similar to full-time MBA admissions? If so, then I don't think it is a problem telling Chicago that you applied to Wharton's program also. Don't tell them you were already dinged, just make it appear as if you're still waiting a decision. Schools know people apply to more than one place, they aren't offended by it. They know you want to keep your options open.
However, just as EconGirl said, focus your answers on why you want to be at Chicago. Make it come across that it is the place you want to be, and if offered admission, you would accept immediately.
