A total of 100 judges are evaluating two candidates M and N. Three choices are available: good, bad, and neutral, as the table above. How many people gave "good" choice to both M and N?

1) 40 judges did not give any "good" choice.
2) 10 judges gave "bad" choice to both M and N

I think it is A.

(1) Assuming all 100 voted exactly once to each candidate:
40 judges did not give "good" to any candidate, so 60 judges voted good.

The 60 judges who voted good, could have voted in one of 3 ways:
Good to M only = x --> This includes (M-good,N-bad) & (M-good,N-neutral)
Good to both M and N = y
Good to N only = z --> This includes (M-bad,N-good) & (M-neutal,N-good)

From the table total good votes = 40 (M) + 30 (N) = 70
Now using a venn diagram/equations, y can be determined as..

x+2y+z = 70
x+y+z = 60

y = 10

(2) (M-bad,N-bad) = 10, too many unknowns to solve based one just this. Insuff.

I don't think I can solve this on the test in <2min.. What's the source?? MGMAT.. Kaplan?...

Using Venn Digram u can get the value..


B does not provide any data abt the GOOD answers!

I think its A.

I hope this works.

For m and n; in order to find good choices we use;

40+30-Both+Neither=100

Statement 1 gives us information about both so its sufficient, however

Statement 2 only tells us information about the bad which is not sufficient.

I would choice A- hoping my explanation is good.
