I would not say that IR has a major impact, but given that its weight is likely to be more than 0, you should probably try to do at least a "good enough" job on IR.

Hi tejyr,

You ask a great question. At this point, business schools put more weight on quant and verbal scores than on IR. Also, since each school weighs the IR score differently, you may want to research the schools to which you plan to apply.

That being said, to eliminate any doubt regarding your GMAT score, you should shoot to score as high as possible in IR. After all, you would not want to score a 700+ on the GMAT and have an IR of 3, right?
