Hi,
I got a GMAT score of 740 but an IR score of 5 (47 percentile). Will this hurt my chances in the T20 B-schools?

It is extremely unlikely. First off, an IR score of 4 is fine in general. Second, there's so little variation between top scores and low scores, that it tends not to matter if you score a point above or below your expected number. Third, with respect to the GMAT, the schools tend to care about the overall score, the Quantitative component, then the Verbal component in that order. The IR score is usually fourth in the pecking order.
Plus, when you realize there are are so many other factors in your overall application, this one little score is not going to have a marginal impact.
BUT...if you are feeling concerned and have the motivation, you can always retake the exam. As long as you are confident can replicate your overall GMAT current score, you have really nothing to lose.

B-schools do not consider your AWA and IR scores separately but rather as part of your overall GMAT results. And your 740 should be able to compensate for the 5.
