Seems like a time management concern. Try taking verbal sectional tests and fine tune approach.

All the best!

Hi Everyone -
I wanted to know if it is possible to have a score improvement of 70 points in a month (R2 deadlines are close). I gave my first attempt and got a 645 (Q88, DI84, V74) and I would like to improve to 715+. I left 1 question in verbal and that seems to have hit my verbal score a lot.

Since my attempt I have been better with verbal and I have changed my approach of solving problems. Im sure that exam anxiety was also an issue and it was not my best attempt. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)!!

To achieve 715+, you'll need to improve your Verbal from 74 to 84, assuming that you make no improvement in Q and DI. It's challenging but never impossible.

You need consistent, effective strategy and time management for Verbal. Two articles for your reference as a start:
How to Improve Verbal from V78 to V85
Time Management Strategies on GMAT Focus

If you can significantly improve your Verbal, your DI may get a few points lift as well. In the meantime, see if there is any other low-hanging fruit in DI section. You need a 10-point improvement in the sum of your sectional scores, so any thing helps and you need to find the most efficient path to achieve that.

All the best.

Generally, it's quite possible to increase your score by 70 points in a month.

At the same time, scoring 715+ is more challenging than increasing your score to a lower level. So, to achieve your target score in a month, you'll need to prepare especially effectively.

One approach that could help is the streaks method, which you can use to develop great consistency in getting questions correct.

Hi kapoora10,

Although I think 70 points in a month is a tall order, considering you think anxiety has been an issue, if you can fix that aspect of your test-taking and improve your content knowledge, I think you have a shot!

Hi kapoora10,

It is not going to be straightforward but it is not unachievable. Working on test anxiety is going to be crucial because it can neutralize all the hard work.

All the best!

You can do it but you need laser focus in your prep. What does that mean?

1. Every practice problem you do needs to target your remaining gaps. Practicing stuff you're already good at isn't going to drive your score up in a short time.
2. You need to focus heavily on testing taking skills -- those are critical to answering harder questions, improving timing and managing anxiety.
3. Focus on using official resources or high quality practice sets -- not from b grade sources. Those will erode your alignment with the the test.
