Good evening. I am considering an EMBA however I am not sure of the ROI in my situation. Let me first start by stating that if money were not an issue I would pursue my degree. However, I am currently the CFO of a privately held company in the professional services industry and my company will not pay for schooling so the hefty ($150k+) will would fall in my lap. Being that I hold a C suite position and a member of the executive board in a company which I am very happy are there any benefits one could see in pursing an EMBA? I have had very productive conversations with my CEO (and owner) pertaining to my professional trajectory within the company and a goal to assume the CEO seat in the future. One concern of his is that I have always been on the finance side of business and being a sales-centric business, I lack the experience to relate to sales people from time to time; this could be a reason to get an EMBA. I go back and forth on this--I want to achieve an MBA as a personal goal but then again, I may be better suited to put those efforts towards my career. My company has also made it clear that a degree would not influence my salary. So, if that's the case that's another strike against the MBA. Then again, I could convince myself to get it as a failsafe in the event things don't progress in my favor, the company is sold etc. I would be more marketable. I know I put a lot out here but any thoughts/guidance/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to GMAT Club! That's a good question.
On one hand, self-improvement and investing in one-self never hurts but besides effort, it also has quite a bit of opportunity cost to get an EMBA and things you will be missing out on and without a clear purpose/goal/application, it may be hard to motivate oneself.
You mentioned you have 2 tracks - promotion within your company or heading to be a CFO of a larger company. I feel an MBA from a top school would be helpful in both situations, as well as provide some protection should the promise of taking over the CEO role not materialize. I don't know if it is worth it though just for that. At the same time, I felt an MBA was a bit life changer for me and for an EMBA, you would build a network with local executives, which would be very helpful if you need to switch jobs.
If you decide to go for it, I would make sure you get a strong brand name.
