Hello All,
I'm a first time poster, but a long time reader. I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with.
My background consists of a Bachelors Degree in Scicence, majoring in Software Engineering from Rochester Institute of Tech. My domain was computer engineering & mathematics, and I had a minor in literature. I have worked for close to two years for two relatively small (150 - 200 employees or so), but public companies, without any real management experience.
I currently reside in NYC, thus close to the two aforementioned schools. I am interested in International Business, and realize Columbia has a very good program for it, though not quite sure about NYU. I can not afford to go full time, and really do not wish to wait a few years, thus a PT program might be required, and I've read good things about the NYC's PT program.
The main uncertainty I have right now is, given the lack of business education (only took one business class in college - Macroeconomics) and a relatively short period of working experience, is a MBA program the right thing for me? I am still conducting various kinds of research as of now, but the more I read, the more the plethora of options and choices tend to confuse me. Is it perhaps better for me to get a Masters in something closely related to international business? Getting a Bachelors in Business first (is it necessary?), then getting an MBA? Perhaps there is maybe a better and viable alternative that I am not aware of?
Any insightful input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
