Can you give and example of such sentence. I have not seen such sentences as far as I remember

Yes, it's an adverb. "Consquently" is similar to "therefore" in that it indicates that one thing follows from another. We can certainly start a sentence with either word, but we would generally only do so in context, not in a stand-along sentence (as in SC).
Joan doesn't like violent films. Consequently, she often chooses to stay home when her friends go to see some shoot-'em-up at the theater.
