Will it not make getting a recommendation letter difficult?

I think I will be ale to get that from my current supervisor who has retired after 35 years of service last week. That doesn't seem to be an issue so far!

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this dilemma. Best wishes from all of us.

As for your application, there is absolutely no requirement to be presently employed at the time you submit. It's entirely understandable in a situation such as yours where you might have to take a hiatus from work. The schools will understand this as long as you note it in the optional essay. In addition to explaining your situation, you should have a forward-looking approach about what you plan to do when you are in a position to work again. The schools will want to see you bounce back from adversity.

At the end of the day, mental and physical health often have to come before other matters. Don't layer on more stress. Do what's best for yourself and let the process play itself out.

Best,
Admissionado

Thank you so much for your kind words and that insight! I know that technically I don't have to be employed but again it's a technicality. Does ISB have an optional essay as an option which I can utilize to explain these extenuating circumstances? I do believe that my 7 years' worth of experience shouldn't be brushed off completely for something out of my control. I also don't wanna give up on my dream of gong to a business school. It's equally important for my mother as well and I am not giving up! I am yet to discuss things with HR again day after tomorrow and hope to find a solution and if not then I am afraid I shall have to resign. Nonetheless thank you so much!!! :please:

At a personal level, I have not disclosed to my employer that I have been preparing for GMAT. Recently some significant work has come my way, it is good for my development so I couldn’t say no. Really anxious how my employer might react when I approach him for recommendation letters, haha!!

Settling into the role demands some good time and the bosses have been investing in me, I am in such a dilemma right now 😓

I haven't disclosed that to mine either but having worked with this guy for more than 3 years now I can safely conclude that LoR shouldn't be a concern! All the best to both of us!!!
May the Force be with us all during these unprecedented times!!!
