Hi, I w'd like to get some input on egmat. I looked at a couple of their posts and found them to be useful. However had never heard of this company before joining GC. Hence, I would like to get some feedback on the quality of their offerings. Has anyone taken their course? Is it useful? thanks

Hello,

The course is extremely helpful for non-natives like me. It provides a completely different approach on how to attack questions related to SC,CR,and RC. I am already reaping the benefits from the course as I prepare for the D-day. The methods described to attack SC questions are unlike any other that I have come across so far. CR sessions are equally worth the money.

As we all understand , RC is a different beast altogether and it takes considerable amount of practice to master the questions that appear on GMAT. However, I like the approach to attack RC questions as provided in the course. May be it will help you as well.

My take on the course is to go for it. BTW..I am currently enrolled in "VERBAL LIVE COMPLETE"

Hope this helps...

@icaniwill and @vineet - Thanks for your inputs. I love this community for this reason. A few more questions :).

1. I already have MGMAT and Powerscore books but have not benefited from them. My verbal has not improved as much as I had hoped even after 80-100 hrs of effort. Do you think that egmat can help me improve? My verbal scores is hovering around 30 in MGMAT mocks.

2. egmat offers live courses and on demand courses. is there a difference between them. Do I need to take both. What do you recommend? (money is not a problem, but just from an efficiency standpoint)

3. Did you also compare gmatpill? How does that compare to egmat?

I need to make a decision as I dont believe I can hit my dream score through selfstudy.

1. After going through e-gmat course you will actually see that concepts from these books (that you already internalized) start making sense to you. I have the same books too. After going through e-gmat you will see that you can break the plateau and see an improvement.

2. Their main offering is the e-learning SC and CR courses. Taking these gives you access to their main concepts files and number of practice problems. ( you also get free grockit membership for a year). If money is not an issue, then I would recommend the Verbal complete, which includes both e-learning SC - CR concepts and live sessions. Live sessions help you in bringing up your queries in corresponding sessions, see instructors solve problems and also you will learn from queries that other class members bring up (it is sort of live discussion).
As an example, with egmat you will learn "prethinking" approach of solving CR problems .In the CR live sessions there is good amount of discussions and Rajat makes you prethink and come up with examples when solving CR questions. We can easily understand the argument if we prethink and notice that CR verbal is more of common knowledge/reasoning that we already possess.

3. I dont know much about gmatpill, so cant compare.

Hi,

I am also registered with E-GMAT's "Verbal Live" that includes SC and CR. The SC concept files are fantastic and helping me a lot. I am a kind of grammarian focused on grammar, but now i look into the meaning first and then go for the grammar. Their 3-step process has changed my approach. I would recommend that first go with its concept and then read MGMAT or powerscore. This will definitely help you.

As CR is concerned, I have also gone through the power score, but E-GMAT's concept files along with the recordings are more useful. It saves time in understanding the concepts. Reading the book for several hours wasted a lot of my time.

I believe one can improve his or her score with e-gmat.
