As of July 2022, does GMAT on test center offer any advantage over GMAT online?
The big advantage of the test centre is that you don't have to arrange anything.

You don't have to download any software, or clear a room, or worry about power and internet outages, or warn members of the household not to disturb, or deal with a remote online proctor, ...
After the exam, your result is unlikely to be held back for review.

For the test centre exam, you just reach on time with your ID proof and take the test.

Hi everyone,

As of July 2022, does GMAT on test center offer any advantage over GMAT online?

Is it viewed the same by the admissions team? There's no test center where I live and I'd have to take a plane, so I prefer GMAT Online, but worry about it being 100% equal to the usual test center.

Thanks!
Hi echo900,

I currently recommend that test takers take the regular (test-center) GMAT if they can, but as far as I know, schools don't look at the online version as being less reliable.

Hi. GMAT Online is here to stay. GMAC has made it an official product that expressed their strong support for it with investments into expanding functionality, retakes, and even changing the provider and administrator of the test. I think they saw it as an opportunity to offer more services - something we would not have thought could be possible a few years ago (pre 2020).

There are no concerns from the score validity stand point but there are concerns related to the lag that some test-takers experience during the test. Between the test-center and at home, the test center is more reliable from the standpoint of experience (internet, loading, no questions about cheating) but if you have to take a test, you take what you can.

At the same time, my test center was booked in my city, so I had to take a train ride overnight to another to take the test there. I felt it actually helped me since I was able to be away and isolated and focused on my test

The GMAT Online is, obviously, a life-saver for test takers who cannot get a convenient test centre booking. But some test-takers actually prefer the GMAT Online, despite what their tutors prefer.

Here are some reasons why:
- They can take the exam at a time that fits their routine and sleep cycle (GMAT at 11pm anyone?)
- The formal test centre makes them nervous. They are more comfortable in their bedrooms
- They have never used a desktop with a mouse. They are comfortable using their personal laptops.
